Description
Coal dominates the global energy mix and accounts for more than a quarter of the world’s energy supply. It is the most prominent fuel for energy, especially in Asia. The continent accounts for 80% of the global consumption.

However, with the recent announcements by majority of the Asian countries towards climate neutrality, the attention is shifting towards replacing coal fired power plants with renewable power. Although solar PV and wind have received significant support, biomass offers a sustainable, renewable and dispatchable solution to solving the climate crisis as well as enabling energy access.

Asian countries benefit from availability of a broad range of sustainable biomass feedstock including forestry processing by products, agricultural residues, and municipal waste in urban areas. Efficient utilization of biomass for energy can help Asian countries to reduce demand for coal power, mitigate GHG emissions, create jobs and investments.

To fully utilize the potential of bioenergy in the region, it is critical to address some of the technical, economic, regulatory and supply chain issues. In this regard, World Bioenergy Association (WBA) is pleased to organize a webinar ‘Biomass as a substitute for coal – opportunities in Asia’.

The event will convene project developers and supply chain experts who will share their experience over the past decade in executing successful bioenergy projects in Asia including Japan, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, China etc.

"China, Indonesia, Japan, Thailand, Viet Nam" is not in the list (Worldwide, Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, Andorra, Angola, Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Armenia, Australia, ...) of allowed values for the "Country" property.
