Eligibility/Description
Practica Foundation is pleased to announce a series of onsite practical trainings on the topic of small-scale Solar Powered Irrigation Systems (SPIS) to take place in Chokwe, Mozambique. The target group for this course are companies providing solar pumps for irrigation in the Gaza province. We specifically invite technicians designing and installing these SI systems to participate in the course. In total three 5-days trainings will be given and will take place between April and October 2022. Due to the practical nature of the trainings, each of them will be limited to 20 participants.

The main topics that will be covered are as follows: • Solar Photo Voltaic panels and solar pumps: basic pump theory, practical training on installation, maintenance, optimal technical set-up, user advice. • Determining the capacity of the water source • Introduction to irrigation: crop water demand, the impact of soil, climate, season. • Irrigation systems suitable for solar pumps: types, technical features (efficiency, durability, uniformity, pressure), installation, maintenance, implications for usage. • Cost and durability: Farmer business case, after-sales services, finance solutions.

The trainings are planned to take place in Chokwe, Mozambique. No economic compensation will be provided for participation or transportation to or accommodation in Chokwe. The exact dates are to be defined and will be communicated to the prospective participants. In case there are more participants than places we will make a selection based on the candidate's profile.
