Secondment in support of the International Relations and Special Projects team on high-level SDG7 and climate diplomacy including support to institutionalizing the Energy Transition Council (ETC) dialogue with developing countries in Africa and Asia beyond the 2021 Conference of the Parties (COP26), based on country priorities and demand for energy transition focusing on phasing out coal and replacing it with clean energy offers. The secondee will be part of the IRSP team that works closely with UK BEIS, E3G, and other ETC Secretariat members to:

Facilitate private sector capital for investments in the clean energy offers, Identify new countries for dialogue and collaboration with the ETC on clean energy offers, Facilitate continued and expanded collaboration efforts between donors, international organizations, and private sector actors to ensure results on the ground by further refining a coordinated clean energy offer in ETC ODA eligible countries, Facilitate the continuation or institutionalization of the work on the clean energy offers for replacing coal with sustainable, affordable, and modern energy in ETC ODA eligible countries.

Further the Specialist with work within the UN-Energy team to support the Energy Compact Action Network to bring together the Energy Compact community to facilitate matchmaking, support strategic alliances, and enable the delivery of Compact commitments. This would require:

Technical analysis of commitments received so far to identify opportunities for fostering partnerships, Overview and in-depth analysis of the impact of commitments on SDG7, Outreach to additional sectors, countries, and institutions to raise ambition and submit additional commitments,

Coordination and support to the network on ongoing efforts.
