Programmes the team carries out are Energising Development (EnDev), Strengthening the Enabling Environment for Higher-Tier Clean Cooking (SEE Clean Cooking), including the Africa Biogas Component (ABC) and the Higher Tier Cooking Component, the Energy Transition Facility (ETF), SDG7Results (for energy access) and the Young Experts Programme (YEP Energy). This also involves intense cooperation with the ministry (IGG) and diplomatic missions.
The Netherlands Enterprise Agency carries out EnDev in close cooperation with the German Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), maintaining a co-management position and contributing to strategy development and consultation with EnDev's donors. The Netherlands Enterprise Agency acts as a catalyst concerning cooperation with strategic partners such as the World Bank, GET.invest and the Clean Cooking Alliance. The Netherlands Enterprise Agency carries out the Africa Biogas Component and Higher Tier Cooking Component in partnership with the EnDev programme. The components are funded by the Netherlands, Denmark and the European Commission. The team requires extra (staffing) capacity to promote clean cooking solutions. The objective of the activities is to support market development in the long term. This involves providing concrete support (through technical assistance and financing) to the local SMEs in partner countries. A number of these companies are involved in constructing, installing and distributing biodigesters for farmers to use to produce clean fuel (biogas) and materials to support greater agricultural yields. Another part of the programme supports local SMEs with the production and/or distribution of clean cooking solutions based on pellets, ethanol and electricity.
Who do we need?
To strengthen our team, we require a mid-level/senior clean cooking programme advisor for the EnDev team. Also, you will be working on wider-ranging activities within the MVEK programmes.
You will contribute towards the capacity building of companies producing clean cooking solutions, providing service and/or producing clean and sustainable fuels, as well as companies that construct, produce, distribute or install biodigesters.
You will contribute to the financing of clean cooking using a variety of instruments, including results-based financing, access to climate funding and specific impact funds.
And finally, you will facilitate the capacity building of governments and sector/company organisations that aim to (better) coordinate the clean cooking sector, and to represent it in the various partner countries.
In this role, you will be working in the MVEK team together with EnDev management partner GIZ, implementation partners, international organisations and programmes such as the Clean Cooking Alliance, GET.invest and ESMAP. We would also appreciate you looking beyond the confines of the programmes and actively seeking connections with other teams and instruments within the Department of International Development.
