Abstract
This document is specifically aimed at familiarizing companies and entrepreneurs with what mezzanine structures are and how they work best in the context of the A2E sector in SSA. The Energy Entrepreneurs Growth Fund (EEGF) is an investment fund that provides financing and technical assistance to entrepreneurs operating in the Access to Energy (A2E) sector, which includes off-grid electricity and mini-grids, in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). The EEGF, managed by Triple Jump as portfolio manager and Persistent Energy Capital as advisor, was launched in 2019 with capital from FMO and Shell Foundation. The EEGF provides flexible equity, mezzanine, and debt investments in the range of USD 1-10 million per company.
