This growing market has been typified by a very rapid sales growth, an increased preference for and availability of quality products, continued entry of new manufacturers and distributors, growing consumer awareness and confidence, remarkable improvements in performance, and innovation in business models.
Despite this success, penetration of solar Pico PV is still estimated at about 4 % of off-grid households in Africa, less than 5 % in developing Asia and in Nepal it is less than 40,000 deployments of solar Pico PV in last two decades. This scenario is leaving significant room for growth.
