Knowledge fuels change - Support energypedia!
For over 10 years, energypedia has been connecting energy experts around the world — helping them share knowledge, learn from each other, and accelerate the global energy transition.
Today, we ask for your support to keep this platform free and accessible to all.
Even a small contribution makes a big difference! If just 10–20% of our 60,000+ monthly visitors donated the equivalent of a cup of coffee — €5 — Energypedia would be fully funded for a whole year.
Is the knowledge you’ve gained through Energypedia this year worth €5 or more?
Your donation keeps the platform running, helps us create new knowledge products, and contributes directly to achieving SDG 7.
Thank you for your support, your donation, big or small, truly matters!

End-Use Load Monitoring of a Community Microgrid in Rural East Malaysia: Challenges Faced During a Period of Rapid Development
Presenter: Kyle Weber (Masdar Institute of Science and Technology)
Overview
| Rural electrification designing and planning, especially for micro grid-connected communities, requires quality data to verify results. This data can be difficult to locate in current literature. Case studies which show not only the types of loads encountered in rural off-grid installations, but also the variation of loads and the daily load profile in the context of a limited output system are extremely useful in enabling further research in this field to expand the current pool of knowledge. This paper describes the end-use load monitoring work that has been performed in an East Malaysian village since 2010 and the challenges associated with data gathering and end-use monitoring in a rapidly-developing rural setting[1]. |
