| Decentralized renewable energy is perceived to be a key instrument in bridging the energy access gap for millions of underserved communities. The decentralized space which was occupied mostly by solar home systems is expected to be taken over by micro grid models that are developing all over the world. Such an expectation stems from the perception that micro grids are capable of supporting additional loads that are linked to livelihoods and the belief that sharing a common system can reduce the costs to the end user. Our attempt is to revisit these assumptions to check their validity and create suitability parameters to include the scope for both micro grids and solar home systems as a part of energy access solutions.

Presentation

An Analysis of Suitability of Micro Grids and Solar Home Systems
