In 2019, we:  
  • celebrated 7 years of knowledge sharing
  • grew from 8,949 to 9,894 registered users
  • had on average 64,000 unique visitors per month
  • hosted more than 4,700 energy articles 
  • conducted our biennial energypedia user survey 2019 and got valuable feedback
  • launched webinar series on different topics such as: Sustainable Energy in Humanitarian Settings in collaboration with the ICRC and the UNITAR; Mini-grid Webinar Series 2019 in partnership with the HPNET and the WISIONS of Sustainability Initiative and Energy Access Webinar Series 2019 in collaboration with the ACCESS coalition
  • launched the PMCC portal to document how municipalities in Mexico are exchanging knowledge on climate change. It was developed jointly with the GIZ
  • joined as a media partner for different conferences and workshops
  • represented energypedia in international conferences such as the COP25.

September 2019 PMCC Portal on Energypedia

Check out how municipalities in Mexico are exchanging knowledge on climate change (in Spanish). This interactive guide from GIZ includes the step by step process on how municipality in Jalisco, Mexico is addressing climate change issues. The portal also includes a blog where participants can document their experiences and consultants can answer any questions that might come up! First blog entries are already up. Everything is in Spanish, also an how-to-video and FAQs.

June 2019 French Version of Solar Power Irrigation Toolbox

The Solar Power Irrigation Toolbox (SPIS) is now available in French. Check out the toolbox for informative modules and user-friendly tools (calculations sheets, checklists, guidelines) on solar irrigation. 
The toolbox is developed by the GIZ in collaboration with the FAO, under the global initiative Powering Agriculture: An Energy Grand Challenge for Development (PAEGC). It is hosted freely on energypedia.

In February 2019, the Economist published an article titled, ”Electricity does not change poor lives as much as was thought”. According to this article, there is not enough evidence of how electricity impacts the lives of poor people in order to justify that countries “spend a lot of scarce cash” to foster energy access today. January 2019 Energypedia Joins the Efficiency for Access Coalition

Energypedia has recently joined the Efficiency for Access coalition. This coalition works towards promoting energy efficiency as a potent catalyst in global clean energy access efforts. We look forward to working with the coalition on different projects.

December 2018 Energypedia at COP24

This year, energypedia was admitted to the Conference of Parties (COP) 24 as an official observer organization. We not only attended the COP but also had a booth at the exhibition area to showcase our approach. We shared the booth with GERES and Abibimman Foundation.
It was an amazing opportunity to meet so many energypedians at the event and we thank you for all your valuable feedback. We will definitely incorporate them into our work.

November 2018 Second s-@ccess Conference

The s-@ccess conference was a great success in Mallorca! The 135 participants from 37 countries enjoyed the very good balance of complementary topics related to energy access. The Innovation Lab kick-stared the discussion, while the ESMAP side event rounded up the discussion about scaling mini-grids. We are looking forward to the 3rd edition again in Mallorca in Spring 2020!
