Welcome to the Grid Portal

An electric grid is an interconnected network of generation stations, high-voltage transmission lines and distribution lines for delivering electricity from suppliers to consumers. The grid portal provides an overview of the grid related information on energypedia.

Areas of Intervention

Project Pillar 1:
Solutions for network integration of higher RE shares
  • Grid operators/regulators work out innovative tech-solutions for RE integration
  • Regulators are supported to modernise grid infrastructure incl. diagnostics, forecasts, dispatching, accounting
Project Pillar 2:
Options to improve the regulatory framework for RE
  • Regional exchange of regulators/grid operators to facilitate the integration/feed-in of renewable energy sources (RES)
  • Identifying options for mass integration of RE generation at distribution system operation level
Project Pillar 3:
Basics for vocational education and training (TVET) for RE
  • Analysing labour market effects of increasing RE-demand, incl. re-qualification with WB TVET organisations
  • Campaigning towards RE-based professions/services and introduction of common quality standards
