Welcome to the ESDS - Internal Guide! Here you can find information about how to create/link project related information on the ESDS page.
ESDS Portal on Energypedia
The Energy Solutions for Displacement Settings (ESDS) project page on energypedia provides an overview of the different activities of the project and and an overview on all relevant information within the humanitarian-energy nexus.
The project will publish articles about studies conducted, impact stories and activities. If you have written articles, please let us know and we will link it to the ESDS portal.
Content Guidelines
As the website is supposed to present the work of the ESDS-project, a focus should consist in articles that explain implemented activities, share lessons-learnt and offer contextual information. The readers of Energypedia are mostly experts and people working in the energy domain, so you can assume some background knowledge while writing the articles but it is still important to write in an engaging way.
Following aspects you can use as guidelines:
- Find an interesting, short headline for the article
- Include at the beginning of the article an "Overview" section in which you describe in three to four sentences the main content
- Use pictures and include links to additional material
- Ideally, the articles should not exceed 1000 words, but it is recommendable to keep it shorter than that
- Add the very end of the article a "Contact"-section where you link the Energypedia-profile of the person that can be contacted for further information

To add or edit your project informaiton on the ESDS article, you have to be be a registered energypedia user. Please click here to create an account on energypedia.
Create an Article
You can share your knowledge on different ESDS topics by creating a new article or editing the existing articles on the ESDS project page. See the following help articles on:

Formatting an Article
After you have created an article, you can add also tables, pictures, links and reference to make them look professionals and easy to read. Click below for help articles on:

Adding a Video
In case you want to embedd a video in your article, you have to upload it to YouTube and derive the ID of the video which can be extracted from the last part of the URL as in this example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v= 8hsRv73o5Rw
Add the ID in the bold part of the line below:

Insert a bracket { } in the beginning and end of the line and paste it in the section of the article where you want the video to be embedded.
Categorize an Article
After you have created an article, it is important to categorize your article so that it is easy to find. Some of the relevant categories are: Humanitarian Energy, Energy Access, Solar and Off-grid. Click below for an help article on: ►How to add categories
